I'm so glad we finally got to try this place! The service was great! The food was really good. Tasted fresh and homemade! My husband had the beef burrito and said it was the best he's ever had. I had 2 tacos, tripas and pastor. Both really good. The tripas has crisp and larger pieces than I've had at other places, but it was very good! I also had a beef sopa. So good!! Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu! Highly recommend!

Stumbled upon this little gem while driving down I-45 from Galveston back home to DFW. Food was outstanding, little to no wait, and the service was very friendly and accommodating. The only place I’ve ever been where the combo fajitas had beef, chicken, and shrimp. Some of the best grilled shrimp I ever had. And the prices were great. When we are driving through in the future, this restaurant will be one of our stops. Can’t wait to try a desert next time.
Small place with big flavors. We came for lunch and were blown away by the homemade, excellent dishes at a exceedingly reasonable prices. Service is as expected for a minimum personnel operation.
The food was excellent! Prices were great, and you get so much for your money. We had red enchiladas and the green. Both were super. The guacamole is a must. Super fresh. This family is so awesome and really pours it all into making sure you are happy. I really urge everyone to support this family owned restaurant.

Delicious food! Homemade corn tortillas and some excellent barbacoa! We had chorizo and egg tacos, barbacoa, and the kids had pancakes, everyone walked away super full! The waitress was an absolute joy! We enjoy great food, but we really love great customer service...and they delivered both!
My husband and I stopped here with our one year old for lunch when we were passing through. We will make an effort to come back! I eat a lot of guacamole and this is my favorite. I also got the enchilada plate and loved every bite. We are big fans of this place!
First let me say, if you read a bad review for this establishment that person must of had an overall bad day and should go back and try the food and service again. I stumbled on this little gem today for lunch while in this neck of the Leon County woods. I ordered the Pescado Frita but instead of fried, I had it grilled and opted out of the fried potatoes and instead got more rice and salad sides. The fish was just right with perfect seasoning, the sides along with slides of avocado were delicious and the corn tortilas were home made and fresh. I left nothing on the plate. The service was fantastic and extremely accommodating to my needs and requests. I highly recommend El Jacal to anyone. In addition, the restaurant is very clean with nice decor and if you are still hungry, great desserts (try the ChocoFlan ;-) ).
